Odle McGuire Shook – Inside, Outside, All Around the Town
May 2, 2012 · Matthew Mayol · Education, Health Care · 0 CommentsINDIANAPOLIS, IND. – MAY 2, 2012 –Several Odle McGuire Shook (OMS) team members attended a seminar last week by UIndy’s Center for Aging and Community called Inside, Outside, All Around the Town (http://cac.uindy.edu/) at the Wheeler Arts Community located in the Fountain Square District in downtown Indianapolis. Although it was not specifically meant for designers, it was beneficial to hear Zachary Benedict from Morrison Kattman Menze, Inc., an architecture firm in Fort Wayne, Indiana, who is very passionate about urban renewal. He spoke very eloquently on several interesting subjects such as Brain Drain, a community’s walk score (www.walkscore.com), and what ‘community’ truly means. The idea of community and urban renewal is becoming a huge topic of discussion for architects, planners, businesses, and government leaders/officials. Seminars and educational resources are just the first step toward making positive changes in our communities.
