INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – A Monumental Affair has awarded (OMS) Odle McGuire Shook Architects, Landscape Architects and Interior Design an Achievement Award for the Interior Design of the University of Indianapolis, Schwitzer Student Center Addition.

A Monumental Affair provides annual awards for “Excellence in Design / Development / Construction / Engineering / and Public Art in Indianapolis.

About the Schwitzer Student Center

A new two-story, 47,500 square foot addition and a 23,600 square foot renovation to the interiors of the student facility added a defined game area, multiple lounge zones, quiet study areas, group study areas, and breakout dining areas.

The entire project was completed with a focus on innovative recycling ideas and sustainable design concepts, including material choices, site furnishings, and overall community impact.

The inspiration of the theme was that of a circle abstracted from a globe—a purposeful representation of the fusion of the University’s global outreach.

The two-story rotunda is the ultimate marriage of old and new as it is still home to an original bronze sculpture of the campus mascot and to the new private conference and dining spaces on the second floor.
