The Indianapolis Public Library’s Warren Branch Renovation in Partnership with HCO

OMS and HCO, Inc. joined forces for this project. HCO, Inc. is the Architect of Record and the project manager for the project and OMS was the library design architect and provided the interior design and FF&E services.

“The library feels much larger but we didn’t really add much if any square footage and I think that speaks to the open design we accomplished here,” said Matt Mayol, president of OMS.

The project involves the complete renovation of a one story library, addition of a new program assembly space under the canopy of the original entrance, the creating of a new drive-up book drop, and the construction of a new main entrance to the facility on the South side of the building where the parking lot is located.

“We worked together as a team so there was a lot of library staff that was a part of this. They wanted to use colors that were not trendy and something that would last for a long time and we divided the space with color instead of walls,” said Debra Sparks, interior designer at OMS.

This update was the first since it was opened in 1974. Through the creative minds of OMS and HCO, the Warren Branch Library is the best place to relax and study on the East side of Indianapolis.
