For this week’s Ask OMS, we have the definition of the concept of a “third place”. As a reminder, the purpose of Ask OMS is for you to post your questions related to architecture, and then we’ll provide the answers. Please send us your questions.

A “third place” is a location or destination people prefer to be between home, school, work, etc. Starbucks would be an example of a third place for coffee, snacks, meetings, or people watching. A public or school library would be a third place for people to read a magazine or check out new book titles. Mall or student centers could be third places, or any other place that a person prefers to be.

As architects, interior designers, and landscape artists, we are able to create these third places for people to enjoy. Learn more about OMS services provided by visiting our Services page.

We want to know your third place! Is it inside, outside, an event, a restaurant? Share your thoughts in the comments below. If you have any questions or suggestions for future Ask OMS topics please let us know.
