In the medical profession, the word fenestration is defined as the surgical creation of an artificial opening in the labyrinth of the ear to ultimately restore hearing. However, in an architectural point of view, its definition is quite different.

Fenestration is defined as the arrangement, proportioning and design of windows in a building. As depicted in the photo below, the arrangement and design of the windows brings natural light into a specified space, allowing for a more sustainable, energy efficient building.
