For this week’s Ask OMS topic, we have the definition of the word entablature. As a reminder, the purpose of Ask OMS is for you to post your questions related to architecture, and then we’ll provide the answers. Please send us your questions.

Entablature:  A major horizontal member carried by a column(s) or pilaster(s); it consists of an architrave, a frieze, and a cornice. The proportions and detailing are different for each order, and strictly prescribed.
